I would like to clean up my file view screen so that it doesn't show any folders with ### in front or configuration files. Is there a way to set these to hidden directly on the clip+? or how would i do it on my computer? thanks

Only on your pc AFAIK but then again I set my pc to always view everything so I can't confirm and don't have time to check right now.
Edit: on my rockboxed clip, xp system, I can still see many files with hidden on.

Rockbox is not based on Linux, read here.
Edit: "Rockbox is a project to create cross-platform music player firmware from scratch, with the goal of being the best music player possible. Rockbox is not based on Linux or any other operating system, it is written completely from scratch."

Alright fair enough it's not linux based but can I ask a simple question why would a media firmware put directories and files in fileview that the user will never touch? There has to be a way to hide them right?

As to "why" I don't know, you'd have to ask sandisk and I doubt one of the tech supports that you can speak with could give you a right answer, as I do not work for them. As to "there has to be a way to hide them," I don't know so if there is, someone else might teach us both something but as far as I care I don't hide any files and I prefer to see everything.
Edit: Did you try connecting via MTP, that should hide all you don't need. Again, I've never connected mine like that as I prefer USB mode. Edit 2: BTW you should be able to hide files in rockbox, http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?...;topic=26646.0

It says it hides files with a . in front of them but they still show up which is annoying. Basically I want my menus to only show folders I actually use.

Do keep in mind: files that you don't use actually may be used by others, including system files. Personally, I find the Rockbox system, etc. files are easily ignored, generally in their own folder.

if i moved configuration files and stuff i don't use to a folder called zzz and sort alphabetical will that brick my player or something? also i don't use the audiobooks function but if i delete the folder it just comes back when i rehook it up to the pc. can't wait until usb support is in rockbox so i don't ever have to boot the of again

Quote:
Nothing you can do to the disk can brick the player. Only bad firmware updates can do that.
