Preparing to install Rockbox

I've had my Fuze (v1) for a few years, but I'm tired of the horrible gaps during playback, so I'd like to install Rockbox. My question, is there anything I should do before installing? I have some music on the player and some on the microSD card...should I move all music to the card? Should I do a factory reset? Also, I noticed some of the themes require certain fonts, how do I install the fonts?

Thanks in advance...this will be my first Rockbox install...a noob!
