Sony NW-S746 Battery Replacement Tutorial

I had this problem thus I created this tutorial. I didn't take any photos on the process but since you mentioned it, I dismantle it again. Hope its good enough to be understood.

Steps to dismantle and do a battery replacement for Sony NW-S746



1. Unscrew both screws behind.


2. Now using your finger nail, carefully pry the keypad panel. (its attached using double sided tape)


3. Now after removing the keypad plate, unscrew the following screw.


4. Now to remove the back cover plate, you'll have to pry on the lower right corner with your fingernail. Once you have it lifted a bit, try to pry it more in the lower center part near the usb port.


5. Now you should have the following dismantle so far.


6. To remove the battery, its secured by these 3 yellow tape. Carefully lift them up from the battery.


7. Now your able to lift the battery out and get the battery part number. You can google it up and see which store offers it. Like the battery used here, it can be order from Here


8. Now once you receive your battery replacement. You need to use a solder to remove the old battery's wire attached to the pcb, and solder the new battery's wire.


9. Reassemble it all back together, and start charging the battery like you just bought the Walkman on the first day!
