Thought I'd create a repository for Rockbox Android Themes as there doesn't seem to be any on the Rockbox Theme Page.
Here's two: These are based on the Cabbie V2 and each expects album art for the WPS screen to look good. In both cases I use the 1280x800 Rockbox for Android build. The 1024x768 landscape fits the 1280x800 build fine (but don't put the scrollbar on the right for the 1024x768 theme or it will disappear). The themes are a bit rough and simple but usable and can be easily modified. UPDATE: More themes added: 540x960: is named cabbiev2 and is simplified but is violet in color. 480x800: is named violet and is based on a simplified cabbiev2. 720x800: is named violet and is based on a simplified cabbiev2. Hayden Pearce gets all the credit - I just manipulated his elements and themes for the specific device resolutions. These new themes were developed for AMOLED devices, thus the lack of background. These were all quick and simple for my own use but due to the lack of themes in certain resolutions am sharing them. Enjoy! Last edited by TexasRockbox; 12-30-2012 at 09:32 AM. Hello TexasRockbox,
thank you for working on a big-resolution-theme! I'm using Rockbox since my iriver H120 and now since some month on my Galaxy SII (still sthe best for me). Currently I'm testing a Sony Xperia S where's no theme included for the resolution of 1280x720 in the rasher.dk-builds. If I'm installing your theme, I can see the bigger font and the icons but there's no cabbie-theme. Instead I see the base-theme (please see the attached pic). Any idea how I can solve this? Best regards from Germany, REK |

You can't use the 1280x800 variant on a 1280x720 screen, but the smaller one should work (provided you use a Rockbox build with the same resolution).

The 1024x768 should be functional although there will probably be some white space.

There may be two problems: The attached screenshot indicates a portrait installation of Rockbox rather than a landscape installation. Note that Rockbox does not auto-rotate. The previously attached themes are for landscape orientation. The default/error screen is being shown because the 1280x800 theme is larger than the allowed dimensions of the 1280x720 build. Smaller themes can fit inside larger builds but not the other way around. Also, the orientation should match as well: a 1280x720 landscape theme will not work with a 720x1280 portrait build. One would have to alter the y-coordinates of the elements so as to eliminate about 80 pixels at the bottom of the theme. |

Thank you, I will try to create a new Cabbie-Template if it's clear, which resolution the new Samsung Galaxy SIII will have ;-)
I will post it here... |

@TexasRockbox,
You're timing was impeccable, just one day before I got around to installing Rockbox on my new Asus Transformer Prime. One of these days I'll get around to posting a picture. Looks like until you did this there weren't any any other decent 1280x800 themes around either. So thanks a bunch.

Here's the Asus Transformer Prime with Rockbox and Tex's theme.
The phones are vintage Pioneer SE-4's that I've had since I was young. ![]() The Asus TF201 has great sound, much better than my HTC Glacier Android phone. Possibly better even than Sansa Fuse/Clip. However there is a glitch with Rockbox flickering the screen while playing and failing to display at all after the display has been off for awhile and re-wakened while playing. I haven't seen this behavior with any other app. This is with Asus ICS .21. Doesn't affect the audio though. Last edited by Pennhaven; 04-28-2012 at 02:27 PM. Reason: better pic |

You are very welcome! I'm not having issues as you describe and I'm using an older build because of issues with settings on the newer builds. If you have any problems with scrolling try putting the scrollbar on the left or eliminate it altogether.
Great to see Rockbox on the Prime! Nice old Pioneers too! Here's the older build I'm using: |

Thanks for posting the older build. Unfortunately it did not cure the video glitch. It may be somewhat better but there are still intermittent horizontal white streaks/flashes. Haven't seen the total blackout (which I've found with the latest build eventually leads to a crash of Rockbox) but that may depend on how long the screen is shut off and I haven't tested your earlier build very much yet.
Possibly Rockbox isn't properly coded for the Transformer Prime's Tegra 3 video? [Edit]After checking the config settings I think maybe Rockbox was not actually crashing, but rather timing out per the settings but not resuming when the app is reopened.[/Edit] Last edited by Pennhaven; 04-28-2012 at 04:05 PM. |

I have an Archos 70b Which has a screen resolution of 1024 x 600 I've had rockbox working with cabbie v2 in Portrait mode but 400 x 800. I can't seem to find a build to do Landscape. Is there a build that will do 1024 X 600 then I'll look into making a theme?

Texas Rockbox, How easy is it to alter a theme. I have Rockbox on an Archos 70b, but need a theme which is 1024x600! I am happy to try and alter one of yours but not sure where to start!

Excellent, would appreciate it if you post it here once the work is completed. Thanks for starting the thread. Having grown to love Rockbox since getting my Clip Zip Late last year, But thanks to this thread was pushed me to put it on the tablet. Currently running with a 800x480 Theme which is bearable but not Ideal!!
Kudos to you Good Sir! |

Great modification, good work! I was about to re-define my own but you saved me a lot of work (first time -no backup). However I'm facing an annoying problem: My background stays black instead of gray even after I define the correct path of .bmp file. Lower resolutions still work fine. I'm using galaxy Note, ICS 4.0.3 Rocket rom and Rockbox 1280X800 version.
Any help will be appreciated. |

Ive installed the 1200 x 800 on my xoom (cm9) and everything looks great apart from the complete lack of album art. I have a mixture of cover.jpg files in the FLAC folders and embedded mp3s. All is at 300x300. Does it need to be a specific size to work with the android build or am I doing something else wrong?

So, finally I got it. Here is the modified CabbieV2-Theme for a 720x1280 HD Display used by example by a Samsung Galaxy S3.
It's based on the 1280x800 CabbieV2-theme from TexasRockbox! ![]() Download here. Have fun! REK Last edited by REK; 11-15-2012 at 07:32 AM. |

Here is one more. The upload max has been reached on the first post. It's almost like the first 1280x800 but is violet in color.
Merry Christmas! Last edited by TexasRockbox; 12-25-2012 at 01:44 PM. |

Excellent work, TexasRockbox! Now Rockbox on my Nexus 7 won't look so dull and lifeless.
