Default R1 Distorted Music -RESOLVED

Hello,

Other than testing this player about a year and a half ago - I never picked it up again. I was trying to sell it, and decided to test it this morning. All files that I put on it when I first got it, sounded hollow - the way a busted speaker would sound. I formatted the player - used Media Monkey and WM Player to put three new files on it, all of which played superbly on my SONY.

First file - from WMP - had that hollow sound.
Second file from MM - All lead vocals cut out -
Third File from MM - just garbled sounding

All files were converted to mp3

Anyone know what this is about? I have firmware 3.03 on it. The player has not been dropped or otherwise abused. It has been in the original box most of the time - and all of the other functions are working fine.

I don't really understand how you got these files.
Did you rip a CD and encode it into mp3?

Or did you convert lossy to lossy?!

Anyways, you should put the modded firmware 4.00 on your R1. It's the only safe firmware.

Tried different headphones. All files sound great. Apparently, the R1 will not work with the extension cord on the Sennheiser MM6. Also tried without extension, and sounded fine. The MM6 pones with the extension sound great with all other players, including other Samsung players. So who knows why they do not pair well with the R1. Just happy to have figured it out.
