Default Stock Music Player: What is the Auto equalizer setting?

What is the "Auto" equalizer setting for? Sounds different for different recordings. Sometimes seems like a big mids-boost...sometimes adds lots of reverb.

I believe it changes the settings for different genres of music.....and it never gets it right....lol.

My Samsung Q2 that I had a while back had the same setting on it....and it never worked very well on that either.
