Totally new to this. I am wanting to get a galaxy 4.0, don't need anything fancier. However, I don't understand what the differences are in the different model numbers such as these http://www.walmart.com/ip/Samsung-Ga...ished/20692718 or this from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy...665934&sr=8-12
One is a YP-G1-CW8A with 2.2 froyo and the other is YP-G1CWY/XAA with android 2.3.5 What is the difference and what is better? Should I wait and just get a 4.2? please explain this to me, thanks. |

Well the biggest difference is the CW8A one is REFURBISHED, and appears to be sold exclusively by Walmart (yet another reason not to buy electronics from them). Since it only comes up as being sold by walmart that implies its one of those deals walmart has with electronics companies to get discounted products (or in this case sub-par refurbs) so they can "undersell" the competition and still make money.

Can anyone tell me what CW8A is compared to YP-G1CWY/XAA. I take it one has a newer version of Android operating system? So the Android 2.3.5 would be better to get? Any help would be appreciated.

Buy the amazon one, Walmart electronics have a bad enough track record, I would never by anything from walmart that is clearly labeled refurbished, thats just asking for problems.

yes the one from amazon has the newer operating system (gingerbread) and is the one to get. i have it and it is awesome! definetly stay away from the refurb from wal mart, both because it is a refurb and because it has the older froyo operating system

No problem, you will love the 4.0 with 2.3.5 it is an incredible device. I also have the 5.0 i find that it is more "usable" for browing the internet, typing, general use etc.. Because of the bigger screen. Camera also has a flash which is nice because and I found out that the cameras in these things need alot of light to take a good picture. Basically unless there is almost perfect lighting the pics come out crappy.

the version of android that comes on the player is far less a deciding factor as it is so very easy to get 2.3.5 or for that matter 2.3.6 onto the 4.0, the reason to get the amazon one is to avoid the crappy refurbished walmart only model.
