The most important thing is, that all three devices have a Wolfson DAC.
I can get either the wifi 4.2 for 179€, the wifi 4.0 for 128€ or the i9000 for 179€. i9000 seems to be the best deal, but it's a smartphone, so how long does the battery lasts if you only listen to the music? Which one do you prefer? Edit: thank you guys. I think I'm going to buy the I9000, because everthing I need is included. I have a cheap mobile phone, an ipod touch 3g, but no camera. Now I can get rid of them. And you don't need a custom kernel for the wifi 4.2 to run voodoo. Last edited by natkingcole; 05-20-2012 at 03:44 PM. |

largely depends on your plans, the I9000 has further developed CM7 and probably a few other things, it has a 1500 Mah battery (same capacity as the 4.2), but there are also extended batteries available in MUCH higher capacities that come with replacement back plates since the batteries are so much bigger (physically), but if you can get it without a contract at that price (and have no intention of using the phone part) you could just set it to airplane mode to turn off the cell radios which would help the battery life, it also has a 5 Megapixel camera.
but if your really just gonna use it for music go with the 4.0 as its SO MUCH CHEAPER. So cheap infact that you could by a DOZEN spare batteries for the 4.0 with the money saved versus the other 2. The 4.2 is to early to tell yet, do we even know if voodoo sound works out the box or is it like the 4.0 where we needed a custom kernel to utilize it?

The i9000 would probably be best I think, for the aforementioned reasons. I think the biggest reason is probably that there is a stronger development base for it.

go for the i9000 it has a phone function! and it's exactly like the SGP 4.0 except, it has a phone function.
However if you have a good phone and just want to use it on long trips take the SGP 4.2 (I have the 4.0 but the 4.2 is newer) If the battery is dead after some hours of movie watching, you can't make a phone call if you use the i9000. if you use a dedicated mediaplayer, you can still make a phone call |
