10th Anniversary WM-701T Special Edition

Hello, I am posting a thread to inquire about a particular model Walkman the WM-701T (same as WM-701S - 2000 produced) which is the Presentation version of the WM-701. They were also Special Edition units made for Sony by Tiffany & Co., as were the 701S models, but these were even rarer and supposedly only given to certain celebrity names and company officers.

I worked for Sony Corp. from 1989-1995 and, after many of my other cool devices and units were sold off or given away , managed to save this one last piece of history. I do not have original box nor all accessories, but do have the gum stick battery/charger, as well as the AAA alt battery source, and mini-jack headphone converter. It is in good condition, everything works 100%, and is need of a good metal polish cleaning as the sterling silver has oxidized after 17yrs of sitting.

I am curious of the production #s of the 701T vs. 701S and a possible value that might be able to be placed on this unit. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time and look forward to responses, Chris.

Hi Chris.

If you ever wish to sell your 701T, please let me know. I won't lie to you, they are expensive when they come up for sale. They normally go for anything between 800-1200 dollars. I would love one. Here is my email address if you are interested: mccaffrey_derek******.ie.

If you still haven't figured it out (this is an old thread I notice), the WM-701T was made in 250 units, according to this site: http://yabinwei.blog.163.com/blog/st...0078171223231/

Each one has the unique ID engraved like "n / 250" i.e. "out of 250 total units".

Thanks Roger The 701T Tiffany edition did NOT have "xxx of 250" engraved on them - or maybe I should qualify by saying - at least mine did not. I sold it to a gentleman overseas - Germany I believe. Sorry to see it go, but he was a REAL collector of Walkmans and better with him and in his collection than sitting in a drawer unappreciated and deteriorating

Does anyone have the Walkman WM-701T Tiffany edition or the Walkman WM-701S edition for sale? I don't know if anyone will see this message since it is an old thread, but I thought I would try...thanks! Richsd
