The select button suddenly stopped working with Rockbox, booted the OF and it works fine. Anyone ever had that problem? Bit of a deal breaker at the moment for me.

Have you tried other builds? Which build did you install?

I think i figured out why the Clip and Fuze players sometimes get stuck at the panic screen and need to wait for the battery to drain to reboot. I've committed a fix, but I have no way to test it, so if anyone gets stuck unable to reboot with a build from today onward, please let me know.

Ehm, whatever one is on the Rockbox website tbh, any suggestions for a build to use?

I thought I was enjoying the the Stock Firmware but I'm really starting to hate it now

For those who have not read the other thread, there is no such thing as a Clip Zip version 1.1. felinoel mis-interpreted 1.1" (ie 1.1 inches) as a version number.

So far this is a succes story. I bought a clip zip 8gb for use with rockbox. The OF could not handle my brandnew samsung 32gb cat 10 sdhc (as expected) so half an hour later rockbox was on it, following the instructions in this post. First I tried the rockbox utility but that would give 'this program stopped working' in win 7.
Figured out how to make a playlist from internal and external drive together which took some trying but I have that now playing, some 5000 'songs'.

The latest OF now supports it (1.20?)

Unfortunately the OF doesn’t hold a candle next to rockbox

It all depends on what one wants and needs.

I enjoy Rockbox (I'm a lots of pockets sorta guy), but find it interesting that some people just find Rockbox too complex. I think the information-full default screen can scare some people off (even if you tell them that they can download and apply an alternate theme, which I think some people see as yet another complication). And let's not even get into actually getting people to even glance through the user manual . . . .
