Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8 (YP-GP1)

that looks too big to me. the 5.0 is about as big as would want. again it's all personal preference. the good thing is there is another samsung galaxy player coming out!

I was a little worried when no updates in firmware came out for the current galaxy players that samsung had failed and was killing off the product.

When it is released I am assuming canada will be left out again as we are now just getting the galaxy player 5.0 in staples but I have never actually seen it in stock just listed on the site

I was at the IFA 2012 in Berlin today and I did not see the GP 5.8 nor any other Samsung mp3 player. According to their stand, it seems that Samsung only makes 2 products: the GS3 and the Note 2...

Nothing at the Sammy stand then? That kinda stinks. I really hope this thing actually gets released... and in Canada too. It's starting to sound like this will be the original all over again and we won't see it until it has fallen behind the current specs.

This is crazy. speculation only- about a possible device that is running an old generation of android, on less than state-of-the-art hardware, which isn't released yet in Korea, and might never get released to USA or Canada. If it does, next year, or the year after, it will be out of date by 3 generations of android.

Samsung should stop this crazyness and just make a 5 to 6" Galaxy Tab. Everything on the same production and update schedule. Of course that's like saying the pentagon should apply logic and common sense to their strategies and spending.

For me, more than 4''-4.5'' I'll prefer the Tab 2 7.0 and probably cheaper.
Maybe Tab2 doesn't have the latest in technology but I've playing a little bit with it, and for me, works well and good sound quality (I think it uses the same wolfson DAC of SIII).

Nowadays I woudn't spend a lot of money....it will get older in any case.

No release date has been announced yet but one can reasonably expect the Korean release for October-November and the international release for November~February

Thanks! The strange question is because i am not a insider, samsung employee or some guy who spends 3/4 of the day online researching when the latest greatest devices will be released. i am just an end user like the other 99% of us! I have read a few different things about the device, some saying the release was unsure others picked the month and almost all have slighty different specs on the device. i just go by what i read during that half an hour or so that i have time to go online (when not running my business) sorry

When does Samsung usually make their announcements? I've been waiting to get a PMP but I'm not sure whether I need to wait or just go buy another one as this may not be released state side. I'm pretty sure it's already released in Korea though.

i see it doesn't have a flash. i had read conflicting reports about a flash with some saying that it will have a flash. i hope when the us version is released it will have a flash.

The price for elecs in Korea's pretty expensive. Eg The SGP5, when I bought it for roughly $200 in the US last Feb, was still around $320ish in Korea. (The best price I found mind you)
