So i really wanted to get a Samsung galaxy player 5.0 but then I saw on amazon that the galaxy tab 2 cost the exact same price of the sgp 5.. both are ~$200. Now I don't know what to get. Isn't the hardware on galaxy tab 2 much better than that on SGP 5.0? Why doesn't the price for sgp go down if the galaxy tab is the same price? I'm thinking maybe I'll just the the tab and carry it around? But I really wanted something more portable? Do you think the sgp5.0 is worth getting if the galaxy tab 2 is the same price?

i got both haha. love both of them
i also have poweramp on my tab 2 7.0, but don't listen to music on it, i mainly use it for web browsing and playing games, than use the SGP to listen to just music.it depends, you could get the 5.0 and be perfectly fine. but the Tab 2 has ICS 4.0 which is nice. the SGP 5 has an older version...so its a bit outdated. if i were you i'd just get the galaxy tab 2. you have a tablet and a music player in one. |

If I were you I would get the Tab. It is more powerful hardware than the 5.0. If you need something more portable then get a Clip+ to go along with the Tab.

It all depends, how much of a premium do you put on portability? There's no question that the Galaxy Tab2 has both better hardware and a newer version of Android than the SGP 5.0.
I use the SGP 5.0 for many things, a PDA, a PMP, a VOIP phone, e reader and a GPS. I use the SPG 5.0 frequently in my business. I use it to take, and email, photos. I also have numerous electrical schematics downloaded on my SPG 5.0. It's so useful that I really don't want to be without it. So, the fact that the SGP 5.0 will fit in my pocket is very important to me. The 5" screen is is perfect, any smaller and the schematics would be unusable, any larger and the device would not fit in my pocket. That said, if I didn't need a device that fit in my pocket, I would buy the Galaxy Tab 2. Hopefully, Samsung will eventually come out with a newer 5" device. Hi guys. I just found out the nexus 7 which is even more powerful hardware is also $200 ($199 for 16 gb one) o_O.. but I still kind of want the SGP 5.0 since I really want a portable device but with such better tablets out there for a same price, I was wondering.. I am waiting for Black Friday to buy a sgp but what price do you think will make it worth buying instead of a tablet? Like if a new one is $150 on black friday will it be worth getting over a tablet? (do you think the price will go that low?)

i want both. have you thought of a 5.8? there isn't a release date though and it probably won't fit in your pocket... but it is smaller than the tab 2.

The Nexus 7 is a great little device but there are a couple of things it lacks. The most obvious is the lack of upgradeable storage (no opportunity to use micro-SD) and it also has no rear facing camera. Not necessarily a deal breaker but something to think about.

ok how is web browsing on the 5.0? is the screen big enough? i am sort of used to a smart phone. so yes the 5.0 would be a little bit bigger. but the 7.0 is almost to big.
