You found what you needed so I'm not seeing an issue. Unless you're suggesting the Rockbox Project should try holding thousands of builds on a server to allow people pick and choose which they want? That would require an insane amount of storage.
BTW, the "this build is better for USB vs. that one" idea is totally misleading. USB being glitchy for the Clip Zip is a known issue. http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SansaAMS..._44_ClipZip_41 In other words it works decently for some people, not so well for others and for some not at all. What's working for you may be totally useless for someone else. No one has been able to track down the issue so until someone does that's to be expected. In my case I updated to 6c5bc31-130210 for the Clip Zip to check the 10 band EQ. USB is working reliably for me. Well, as much as it ever has. Unfortunately, I can't use lebellium's or dfkt's themes. They break USB for me. It screws up for me but I know others that have no problems using the same OS and essentially the same machine. Go figure. That's pretty much the same reason why "maybe the RB installer should supply a less broken build" wouldn't be very useful. What's being delivered is the best that's possible. What's there works for some but not others. Unless someone figures out what's wrong that can't be helped.

themes can break USB? that's odd.
i use linux (various versions) and yes the current build given by installer doesn't work with my PCs, maybe it works with windows or something. |

Yes, some themes can cause USB to fail for some users. http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/12639 I'm one of them and have checked with Win7, Vista and on a Linux partition on two different machines. When I load either lebellium or dfkt's theme USB eventually fails. That's with both the Clip Zip and the Clip+.
With the same machines and players using other themes connects reliably with no data aborts or any other issues. What works in Windows works on the Linux partition on the same machines. That leads me to believe it's not a Windows or Linux issue. That's after the first connection. With the very first connection USB always fails and the player freezes and need to be rebooted. It doesn't matter what theme I'm running, that always happens. After that initial connection I can connect every time with no issues.

Anyone to confirm that with latest Rockbox builds battery time is shorter than with the ones at the early builds of the port?

Welcome to ABi
![]() The best thing to do is perform a battery bench to confirm for yourself. Do one with an older build and a current build. If there's a significant difference you can file a bug report. Posting the results on the Wiki http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SansaRuntime would be a good idea in any case. The last couple of results I see there for the Clip+ seem to confirm what you're saying. I don't see any results there for the Clip Zip at all.

![]() The thing is when I battery benched the same player using a development release (6c5bc31-130210) just a month ago I only got 10 hrs. 47 mins. http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...79&postcount=3 I put it down to the age of the player but these new results have me wondering. I'm not 100% of the conditions of the last battery bench but I am this time. I'm conducting another test under the exact same conditions to confirm one way or the other. I wouldn't want to file a bug report because I screwed up the test conditions somehow. I'm using the same playlists of -V2 mp3s with just the 3.12 Release or the latest dev build (143bcfa-130310) The only setting change I've made is to repeat the playlist. Once that finishes up I'll have what's needed to file a bug report if there's a significant change in runtime.

Did the battery bench on zip yesterday with one of the latest firmwares and got above 16,5 h. From full to complete discharge, on a repeated playlist of mpc q5 files. Dunno if it should be better or not. Didn't do battery bench with older firmware.
There's also one strange thing for me. It seems that OF firmware takes approx. 3h for a full charge in comparison to 1h time for Rockbox. Is it possible that Rockbox doesn't charge the battery fully or does it faster? Last edited by muzikfrrrik; 03-11-2013 at 07:14 AM. |

Guys, how hard is it to compile a custom build? I'm still using an old version of Rockbox that dfkt release almost a year ago that have FS#9305, FS#11052, FS#11304, FS#12075, Meier v4, channel swap, and keymap.
I don't know if someone already compiled the new version with those patches, that's why I'm asking. Thanks in advance! |

I deleted your separate thread asking the same question. Please don't post the same question in more than one place.

Its not that hard to compile a build. Mostly just involves downloading a some big files to setup the tools. Depending on how old those patches are though, they might be harder to apply if the code has changed a lot. That said, the Meier and (maybedepending on which one you mean) the keymap patches are already in the current builds.

3.13 stable release is working flawlessly for me on both Clip Zips, and also my e280v1 and 5.5G iPod.

Find rockbox-sansaclipzip-9add11dM-130401.zip here. This is the build of 9add11d [Thu, 28 Mar 2013 13:36:49] with a modified FS#9305 applied. Original had VOLUP, VOLDOWN and PLAY. I added SKIPNEXT and SKIPPREV as keys to not turn on the screen. |

7o9, would you be so kind to compile for the Clip+, too? I tried myself, but it aborted, saying that I had duplicate definitions of the [...]_VOLUME_CHANGE ...
