Default Password reset on an old P2 (emodio not working)

Long shot here, but my daughter is devastated that she's locked herself out of her Samsung P2. The password she created is no longer being recognized.

The mp3 player itself along with every forum I've visited says to go to www.emodio.com to reset the password. This isn't working because the site is all in Korean (Google translate can only do so much) and the unit is so old they don't even list it on their site anymore.

Does anyone have an old trick?

Thanks for your time.

You rather mean she forgot the password. There is no black magic

Indeed, EmoDio in english is down, and the reset form in Korean doesn't work for us, I tried it yesterday http://local.sec.samsung.com/comLoca...YPResetForm.do
It requires a Korean account (only Koreans can sign up with a Korean Social Security Number), an old IE version to install the ActiveX control and apparently a Korean Windows computer as well.
So you can forget about that.

Reinstalling the firmware or formating the device won't reset the password. The last resort solution is flashing the P2 with FWDN.

However, someone here told me it did not reset the password: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=58356

I assume it's because with the default settings FWDN doesn't format the hidden partition (which probably stores the password data).
Therefore you may need to tick the box "enable hidden area formatting" in Options>Preferences. But that's risky, I never tried it and won't try it. No guarantee.

Thank you for responding, I appreciate the info. Very thorough. Sounds like she's hooped. On the plus side we can still access the music on the unit when it's hooked up to the computer. I'm actually wondering if my daughter did this on purpose to get a newer model. Can 9-year-olds be that crafty? Sure, probably.

Thanks again.
