Default Bricked R2

Here we go again...
After bricking my R1 I managed to brick my R2 as well (I bought it as a R1 replacement).

When I switch it on the "Samsung" screen appears, then "checking..." and then it shuts off.
Same thing happens if keep the power button pressed for 8-10 seconds (as the manual says).
Same thing happens when I plug the USB cable to the computer.

Help!

p.s.: I won't buy a Samsung player anymore, that's for sure.

Why would I help you then?

More seriously, you are only very unlucky.
Indeed, the YP-R0/R1 were scandalously unreliable. The Samsung guys who developed the database system are really incompetent.
But that's not the case of the YP-R2. Like all Samsung released after the YP-R0/R1 (Q3/U6/U7/Z3/R2/W1), it's reliable, very few known cases of brick. Actually you are even the 1st one for the R2

YP-R2's recovery tool is Muonizer like for U7/W1/Z3. I'm not allowed to share it but you are lucky, Samsung released it on their Korean website by mistake (stupid Samsung guys )
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co...nizer_V1.3.zip

Now the problem is that contrary to R1 you'll need a special microUSB cable like for R0/Z3/F3.
You can build it yourself (see the R0 tuto: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=69099 ) or buy it.
To VanniX if you live in Italy or to me if you live in France. If you live in another country, to whom you want. But that would annoy me to sell a cable to someone who just wait to buy another DAP from another brand

Well, it looks like I'm not so unlucky... I will be able to get my R2 back (thanks to those stupid Samsung guys ) and browsing the forums I found the recovery tool for my R1 as well! (the tough part is where to find an XP 32 based PC).
That could make me change my mind on Samsung players

Anyway, thanks a lot, I will buy the cable from VanniX (I'm in Italy) and report back as soon as my R2 is unbricked.

Thanks again!

p.s.: does this R2 recovery tool work on Win 7 64?

Yes, I made this tuto some time ago because too many R1 users bricked their player. It already helped quite many people hehe
It should also work on Windows 7 32bit but I guess it's easier to find a XP 32bit computer than a Win 7 32-bit one, as most Win 7 computers were shipped with the 64 bit OS.

Yes it does

Here I am, again.
First of all I have to thank you for your tutorial about how to unbrick my R1.
I decided to add a XP 32 partiton to my computer and everything worked flawlessly.
I was so happy with my "old" R1 I didn't even think about my bricked R2 again, even if I bought the cable from VanniX.
Today I decided to unbrick my R2 as well, but... downloaded last firmware, plugged the R2 with VanniX cable, started Muonizer, red button turned blue, located R2.ROM, clicked on "write rom" and everything went fine.
Unplugged the R2, started it up but... "checking..." again, same as before.
Am I doing something wrong?

Also look at the Rockbox thread: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=71609
The R1 patch http://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/#/c/395/ should be merged into the main tree soon but you can already try out the "beta" version in the thread.
