Each album keeps the same relative dynamics from song to song, but it's overall volume is set to a certain level. I have all of my music library leveled this way (album mode, 89dB).

Typically (maybe 90% of the time) I listen to single albums. I do shuffle occasionally and I've never found have them gained in album mode to be a problem.
