The Bose headphones should not consume any more amp power from the Zen than any other full size phones. As far as the battery in them, that is purely for the noise canceling system. Take it out and they'll still sound as bad ....... errrr... good as ever. If you have them and you like them USE THEM. And forget about what any of us say. After all, sound, no matter what any one says, is subjective. One person's junk is another person's treasure.

While you can get far better for less money, and my $60 Phillips HN110 sound at least as good as the Bose and I have compared them side by side, if they are already there, use them. And noise canceling is fabulous on an airplane.
