Default Paper Clip Container For On-The-Go

I was recently on a four hour hike with my ZVM and approximately three hours in it froze. I didn't have a paper clip with me and I wasn't about to try and shove a stick in the reset hole, so I was without tunes for the rest of the hike.

Later that day I was writing a note with a Bic pen when It a solution for carrying around paper clips hit me. Using a wire cutter I cut a paper clip into several short, straight sections. I then took the ink tube and end cap off my Bic pen and cut it a little longer than the paper clip sections. I replaced the end cap and placed the paper clip sections inside. I then took another end cap off another Bic pen. It makes for a small, sealed tube with several "reset pushers" inside.

I Keep this in the bag that came with my ZVM (which I usually bring with me anyway) and I'll always have a way to reset my player. The best part is that my ZVM is protected from scratches caused by the paper clips and they are harder to lose. The best part is it costs about ten cents.

Works for me. Just thought I'd share.

Cool idea. If I ever felt the need to I'd just tape a paper clip or pin on the back.

That is a pretty great ideal. Small. Lightweight. Economical.

I'm quite the unbelievable geek, and have a paper clip and a couple of safety pins on my keyring just in case of emergencies. Have never needed the paper clip since I started doing this, but I did save the day with one of the safety pins a couple of months back.

Neat idea. I'm a hiker so I can appreciate the approach of having more than one use for one thing, and finding storage space where there wasn't any before.

I have a DLO jacket, and have a paperclip clipped to the back, on one of the strappy thingies that you put the arm strap through. So, I'm never without it. It's come in handy a few times.

Somebody should build reset pokers into the player itself.

At home...well that's home see
Never travel and If I do I can always just put one somewhere.
When I'm at school and my ZVM freezes I use..
Ear Rings!

They work and as long you aren't totally creepy, girls are usually happy to let you borrow one for a few seconds so you can push the little hole.

Really? I'm pretty sure if I asked a stranger to lend me her earrings, she'd have said no before I even got around to talking about my broken MP3 player!

Haha! Thumbs up! I love doing little things like that... customizing and coming up with solutions for little problems I have with the things I buy. Maybe MacGyver actually WAS good for something!

Well I do it at school. I have enough friends that I can nearly always turn around wait a maby 5 seconds and I'll see someone I know. Although if your out on the street this may be a problem in which case you will need paper clip.

No paper clip at school for me.

Default zen safety pin\reset tool holder

hey all this is what I have done....

I got A dew skin that has a "kick stand"
I found the the kick stand to be useless,
so I took it off and put a safety pin in its place
now i always have a tool handy if my zen get stuck.

I just took the paper clip and bent it back into shape as well as I could and then put it in a little plastic sandwich bag and wrapped it in that, then put it in the bag (just a insulated lunch bag I never use) I store my ZVM and accessories in.
