Amazon should be cheap, as usual.

You can shuffle the whole hard disk, a single folder, or folder + subfolders. So if you put your music by album on the X5 you can shuffle it that way. The X5 does not use an ID3 database, you can upload any folders anywhere, and sort by any way you like.

Artist Name > Album title > songs

This would work?

Yes that definitely works fine... you could shuffle one album by this artist (shuffle folder) - or you could shuffle all albums by this artist (shuffle folder + subfolders).

What if I have numerous artists? Will that work also?

Example....

Aphex twin > Come to Daddy > songs
Autechre > EP7 > songs
Venetian Snares > Hospitality > songs

I would want it to play all songs inside the album folders, but choose the albums at random.

It only depends on how you set up your folders on the X5's hard disk...

I use Genre > Artist > Album, that works fine for my needs. I usually shuffle by genre.
