Default WHy Won't My Insignia 4gb Play OGG?

I encoded a bunch of CD's into OGG at 160 ABR, and my 4gb Insignia won't play them.

I don't know the player well. I just connected the mini-USB and copied the files into the main storage area. It immediately said that the player wouldn't play these files, but I transferred them anyway.

No play. They don't even show up on the screen.

I loaded the exact same files onto my Insignia 1gb (older version), and they played fine.

Both of the players have the most recent firmware (just followed the links from this site.)

TIA for help with this!!!

I think you have to copy them in MSC mode, if I'm not mistaken.. Sounds like you are in MTP mode.

I've tried uploading them in MSC mode, but I keep getting the "player doesn't support that media file... blah blah..." error pop-up.

I just copied some OGG files to my player, and it worked fine, just didn't have comments/tags in them, so the player read them as "Unknown" artist and album.. But they worked fine.

I ripped them using Easy CD-DA Extractor 10 in CBR 160kbps mode, dragged and dropped them to my player, and they just worked. Like I said, there were no "tags" in the songs, so they came up as Unknown Artist.. But they played fine.

Are you using WMP 10 or 11?

As irrelevant as it sounds, perhaps its the MTP/MSC drivers that matters.

Edit: Yes, must be done is MSC, and tags do not show up...

I'm using WMP 11, but don't that factors into my encoding of OGG files- it's all done in Easy CD-DA 10, and copied using MSC.
