Smile When does the new firmware for the NS-DV come out?

Any ideas on when it comes out? I heard early this week... but its not out just yet.

Also, does anyone know what will be on it?

Gonna be sweet... one more question!
Can you buy a cord to connect one mp3 player to another through the headphone jack... then I could steal songs from other Mp3 or CD players. How 'bout splitting two headphone wires in half and connecting the two jacks together? Will that work?

Either next week, or the one after that.

You need to buy a 3.5mm patch cable (they're also called dubbing cables).

Any news on the new firmware? So far all I see is the 1.105.

Love the player, but want to see if the latest firmware will tweak the few minor irritations I have had.

Digitaldel said the next firmware release is probably going to be around the end of the month. So, give them another 2 weeks from now.

That's never a good sign. If Insignia really wanted to see the MP3 players succeed, then BB would be promoting them. (Which they're not). Unless you physically walk into a BB or go to their website, you'd NEVER hear of the Insignia brand of MP3 players. It's a shame. I think they are the best.

With that attitude about their products, I'm skeptical that Insignia has any intentions of ever releasing any firmware updates. I hope I'm wrong.

ummm.... I think Digitaldel would know when the next firmware comes out because he works for Insignia... And plus, they have already had a F/W update before. (Both of the newer Insignias, DV and Sport)

No, no, trust me. They're dedicated to supporting this player as long as they can. They're already working on the version after the yet-to-be released version!

BTW, last I heard, this next version is finished, and was sent to quality assurance. It should be on the website any day now...

I am eager to find out what is actually fixed and added as even with the latest firmware the NS-DV is much more stable then my Sandisk E200. To me there isn't too much that needs fixing. The only things I would really hope for are the option of using the player with a vertical orientation and a shortcut to access the music library when playing music (perhaps the on/off button)

Well, if you hold the menu button down, it'll take you to where you last were, and that's usually the library. I think they should reverse that though. Pressing the menu button should take you back, and holding it should take you to the main menu...

That's true but when you are listening to music there are two buttons that have no function. The on/off button and the down button. It seems to be a waste to not have them do something and a shortcut to the music library is ideal.

no problem. I'll just check the Insignia site every once in awhile.
