Default V plus video conversion tutorial

I recently purchased (and returned) a zen v plus. The device has video playback, but it converts your videos to massive sizes. I couldn't find any tutorials which would shrink the video size, So i decided to find a way to shrink the videos myself.
Heres what i came up with. Note: This technique works best with animated videos, because it doesn't affect them as much.
For this you will need vdub (
First you must convert your video using the zen video converter. Make sure you video gets saved to your harddrive. Not your v plus.
Open the video in virtual dub. Ok, heres where we get started.
got to the top and click on video make shure full processing mode is selected. Next, go to frame rate.
A box will pop up and there are 3 sections.we need the frame rate conversion section. On the right it says convert to fps.You can change this to your need ( for animated cartoons with little movement, i use 7 or 8 fps, and for live action I use 10fps)
Next go to color depth. Change it to 16 bit RGB (565) on both sides.
I just left the audio the same, which was just direct audio copy.
Finaly go to save as avi and name it.
Now in my computer open your v plus and go in the video folder. Now paste you video file in there. And there you go!

:Note: For this to work yo must keep the dimension the same.

Using this method i was able to change a space ghost episode from 190mb to 140 mb and a 42 minute tv episode from 1.28 gb to 900mb.

Good luck!
