Default Background hissing noise

Hi all,

I have just bought a Zen V Plus (8GB) to replace my Micro and am a little concerned that there is always some background noise (both through my Creative ear buds and Grados SR60's) that I didn't have through the Micro.

Is this normal? I had a Sansa e280 for a few days but took it back because that also hissed - I don't want to have to return this as well!

Thanks

R

if it has happened on both MP3's then maybe its where you download your music. try adding a cd on your mp3 and see if that makes any difference

Thanjks, but all tracks are ripped from CD's @ 128KPS WMA - could that be the problem?

I have a ZVM and I get no hiss at all with any headphones including SR60 at any volume setting.

My lads have Archos and several other Mp4, again no hiss on any headphones. We rip at 280

Do you still get the hiss when your pet snake is in another room?

Default Just a tad a of noise in between tracks

Ya, Iím with the rest here, I donít have any problems with background noise while the track is playing and I jam out using the custom EQ at max volume. The only noise I hear that can be somewhat of a nuisance sometimes is in between tracks.

Be careful with your wma that are ripped using WMP. Some of mine have become corrupt somehow, skipping and so on. Still trying to figure that one out. Most likely itís another XP WMP update that I need. Gates is a killa when it comes to that shiat.

Thanks for the replies

CD's ripped with WMP ver 10.

Volume is around 2 or 3, so that won't be it!

No snake - the cat ate it.

I have raised a call with Creative - let's see how good they are.....

I had a Sansa e260 and am familiar with the static/hiss between tracks (and in the middle of long tracks). It is a design flaw of the player that some people don't seem to mind. It drove me crazy, however, and I sent it back.

I've experienced nothing like that with the Zen V. Overall, I'm very happy with the sound quality of the Zen V.

FWIW, most of my music is ripped with WMP10 at 192 kbps CBR or (more recently) with Exact Audio Copy using VBR.
