Should I get the X5L?

Hi everyone,

I just gave my wife my old ZVM and was looking for a replacement. I zeroed in on the X5L because of the great reviews it got from everyone. However, I'm a little wary because of a couple of things:

1. Battery dying after 15 months or so.
2. Joystick breaking or not functioning properly.
3. I'm ordering from the Philippines - no customer service.

I'm after the audio quality above everything else but if there are quality issues then I'd rather hold back on this one.

So, do you guys think I should order one or should I look for an alternative?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Supposedly, the X7L is being revealed in September and probably released next year so... if you want to wait...

But if you can't, the X5L seems good now. I wouldn't recommend ordering from the Philippines if you're worried about issues 1 & 2 but they shouldn't be normal occurrences.

I've checked around with the cowon, it seems like the negative reviews are few and far between. But most are either 8-10. So, I'm inclined to think that there could be some mishandling involved.

Another thing that concerned me was the lack of tag support. That's how I navigate with my zvm and I've gotten quite used to it. But then I saw that there's an update which addresses this issue, so no problem there.

In case there is a problem on the 15th month or so, then that would be about the same time the X7 will be out. So, still ok. haha! But I hope nothing happens, that's still a lot of money.

Update:

I couldn't find shops that carried the x5L so I settled for the X5. Shorter battery life, less memory but still ok. I only have about 11gigs of music anyway.

It'll probably get here in a month or so. Still, can't wait.
