Winamp for everything, except transferring to my player (drag and drop) and mass tagging (mp3tag).

EAC/AccurateRip/LAME for ripping, Tag&Rename for tagging, ALL2LAME for transcoding, Cue Splitter for, um, cue splitting, MP3DirectCut for cutting, MP3GainGUI for gain adjustment, WinMP3Packer for CBR>VBR conversions, Winamp/ASIO/VST/Kjaerhus-EQ for listening, Explorer for drag'n'drop no-BS transfer.

There are no better apps than those.

I don't know that it's the best program for that, haven't compared the others. But it's very easy. You just right-click the song, and tag with Amazon, which brings up album art, click save, and voila. Amazon doesn't always show the art, though, so this doesn't work all the tag. There is also a plug-in someone made, which can be found at the mediamonkey forums, for the Google batch art finder. I never used the plug-in much myself.

When the MediaMonkey tags the art from Amazon, it gives you the option of saving it in the file folder or else embedding it in the tag.

I use iTunes to rip my music, maintain my main music library, edit my ID3 tags, and burn my music to CD, because iTunes makes it very easy to do each of these tasks. I use Windows Media Player 11 to manage my music sublibrary (a folder which contains only the music to be used with my Sony A816 music player, copied from my main music library) because I found it the best way to manage the music on my player and to make use of all of my player's features (including album art, playlists, and properly showing all of the tag information).

Greetings, I'm a Linux user so mine are a little different

CD ripping - Grip (cdparanoia setting)
Encoding - LAME -V2 or lately Oggenc -q5 (with aoTuv Vorbis)
Tagging and album art - EasyTag; maybe Jaikoz
Volume normalization (non-destructive) - MP3Gain, Vorbisgain
Cutting and editing (non-destructive) - Audacity
File management - I use a shell script to run rsync to sync my playlist with a .m3u playlist I keep on the main box.

If you're curious about the script: http://quaggaspace.org/doku.php/linu...lip_with_rsync

I manually organize the files on folders going from Genre>Artist>Album. Set the filenames <Track number> <song title>, and use ID3 Tag It for tag the files and insert album art. Media Monkey helps me to detect file paths or ID3 Tag Missings or Errors.

I need something to add tags to MP3 files and sync with my Sandisk Sansa Fuze player. I have tried mp3tag and Media Monkey neither are adequate. Media Monkey seems to be unable to sync with the plater saying that there is not enough space for the tages, even though there is approximatly 11gb free on it. That should be enough space, I fault media monkey.

There must be a setting set wrong somewhere....because it will put music on my Fuze and the microsdhc card just fine. There is the "auto-tag from Web" option on MM that will work fine on at least widely available music, and MP3Tag should cover your needs for the more obscure choices.

Default Media management?

What's the best program to sort out your library, embed cover art within MP3s and folders etc...?

I got media monkey but only the gold version allows for this...

Foobar can sort into folders via tag, or tag via folder names. You can set this up to run automatically, but I would suggest you get them all tagged properly, then have it rename/sort your files if they aren't neatly arranged in folders

I'm saving all my files using MP3 tags just this second. I changed all tags to be correct (most were) and then figured out how to change all song titles to 'title - artist' and changed them all at once. About 9,000 songs done in one hour Now to try embedding cover art...
