Is speed the only difference between transferring/editing music via USB Host vs. adaptor or dongle? Because I've successfully transferred music with no issues and I don't really notice a big difference in transfer speed.

There should be a huge difference in speed, since the USB-Host is USB 1.1 (12Mbps) and the dongle connector runs on full USB 2.0 (up to 480Mbps) speed. Maybe you attached the X5 to an USB 1.1 jack?

Good point, haha! I'm using a new-ish computer so I guess I just took it for granted that it may not be usb 2.0. But still, I was under the impression that the Host would only be for cameras and such. It was a pleasant surprise that I could also use it for file transfers.
Weird, why didn't cowon simply add on to the USB Host's functionality making it USB 2.0 and recharging? |

The controller chip for the USB host port isn't laid out for USB 2.0 speeds and charging, or at least that's how Cowon implemented the chip on the mainboard. (Or maybe they're just lazy bastards and didn't write proper firmware...
