Are you using the display backlight a lot?

If not a lot, depends on when you bought it, you might still have the store warranty. I would try to get it replaced there. If not, you might have to send it in to SanDisk.

I've been getting about 6-8 hours out of mine.

Actually today I used it for 5 hours and the battery is at the halfway point. I don't know if it's getting better over time or not.

I lowered my backlight to the lowest setting since I got it on Tuesday.

I know it won't last 16...

IF your view is new, try to use it for a week more and see if ti improves it. Turn the backlight aww the way down, and do not use the SD card. Use the .6a FW and see if it helps. I know the first week of using the view, the battery life sucks, but after that, i can use it for school for 3 days w/o charing.

Well, just let it run through the Harry Potter Audiobooks...it lasted 25 hours, then shut off...

Good enough for me

I was getting 5-6 hours of battery life, mostly playing podcasts off a MicroSD card.

I stopped using the card, putting the same podcasts directly onto the view itself. Now I am on my third work day without having to recharge. In fact after about 20 hours of play time the battery indicator is still showing over half full.

Hoku_sama, what firmware version are you using? There was a bug that caused the View not to turn off all the way and the "Power Saver" did not work. The newest firmware does not have this issue.
