Default Power Chargers

Any recommendation on where to buy a USB charger for the Zen? Also will a USB charger that work with Zen V work with this?

I can't answer your question, but I had a Zen Micro and its USB wall charger worked with my Zen V Plus. Don't know about the Zen, though.

The response from a customer service request submitted by me:

"there are two power adapters that will work with the unit, the Zen Power Adapter and the Zen Micro Power Adapter."

So coming from creative support these two should work well; the Zen Power adapter is at $30ish (included s/h+tax), and the micro power adapter sells for $9.99 + a big s/h cost AT THE CREATIVE STORE (for me in southern cali it was around 7 dollars; I'm pretty sure this is the lowest price you'll find)

Some also suggest that ANY usb/ac adapter should work if the specs meet the Zen's. I don't really know anything about this.

Well I hooked my ZEN on my Motorola charger last night and surprisingly it WORKED!
Charges perfectly, unlike my Zen V Plus, which didn't.

Since the Motorola V3 charger and The new Zen has the mini-USB, it should work. I use a Motorola V3 charger with the Griffin PowerDock to charge my Sansa e280R in the car mainly.

I have charged my Zen Micro before using a V3 charger, it works but the adapter gets a lot warmer than when charging a V3. I suppose the same would be true with the Zen.

The V3's adapter is rated up to 500mA whereas the Zen Micro's charger is rated up to 1000mA, so I'm guessing the V3 charger is close to fully loaded with the Zen Micro, hence more heat.

I don't own a Zen but I do own a Motorola V3 and 3 other types of USB chargers (One for home, the car, and a portable USB power pack). For some reason, I can only charge my phone with the Motorola charger -- My other USB chargers don't work. My portable USB charger (APC Mobile Power Pack) supports the V3 but you have to buy a specially made USB mini cable for it. This inconsistency may be enough cause for warning. The Insignia Pilot, however, uses the same kind of connector and I know that CovertRussian has had success charging his device with his V3 charger.

Default Power Charger -- why spend $30-$40?

My 16gb Zen finally arrived last night and I would like a wall charger for it.

Can someone explain why I should spend $29.99 or $39.99 for a charger on the Creative site versus buying a generic for under $5 on eBay?

What's the difference?

I want to know also.

Did you order the 16gb from Creative? I'm still waiting for Amazon to have it..

No. Buy a charger for the Motorola V*/L* series for a lot less. Generics are fine.

My husband has a Razr phone. I'm going to try his charger when I get home tonight. It never dawned on me until your post that you're right -- it has the same tip as the Zen.

Thanks for the response!

If you have a Razr, SLVR, or K1M, or any other new Moto phone, you can use their charger.

Comes in handy to have a car charger too

Default Wouldn't any Mini USb connector Adapter work

theoritcally wouldn't any plug in charger with a mini USB connection be ok to use with the ZEN? I just got my ZEN and the USB cable that come swith it is a complete Joke,
The Good News is that My Old Phillips Mp3 player used a mini USB to USB connection and the cord that came with it is a good 4 feet.

Now all I need is an inexpensive mini USB Wall Adapter.
