So I upgraded my OS to the 1.62.02. Now my computer nor Creative software doesn't recognize my Creative Zen: Vision M. It doesnt pop up at all as a MTP device or etc. The player does come to life when connected to the USB but thats it no charge icon/docking. What should I do? Is there a way to revert back to the old OS? I having a feeling the OS upload destroyed my Zen Vision M harddrive but it is still working.
Tried uninstalling and installing Creative Zen software and WM11 software but didnt work. STill not recognized by the computer or software. Last edited by FrododorF; 11-25-2007 at 09:30 AM. Reason: removing bumps merging spreadout info |

try removing the firmware and reinstalling it, ( maybe redownload it to) it could just be a error in the install
BTW normally the software you are refering to as OS is called firmware mp3 players

Yeah I know about the recovery mode and how to get rid of the firmware. My thing is the computer doesnt recognize the device right now. So if I uninstall the firmware its not gonna recognize it (most likely). And to reinstall the firmware you need the computer to recognize the firmware or else it wont upgrade..

Try using Creative's new Recovery Tool, which can be found here.

Ive tried the recovery tool but again the player has to be recognized by the computer. Thats the major thing is everything needs the player to be recognized to function. And unfortunately my player is not being recognized.
Crazy thing also when i reformat under recovery mode it says I have like 27.9MB free with nothing on the player. Isnt it suppose to be 27.9GB? |

Ick. That definitely sounds like a botched firmware load!
Are you sure your player will not dock while in Recovery Mode?

Yeah I tried to dock it in Recovery mode but it did nothing. No device recognized or anything. It gets really frustrating when you've tried everything you can think of and nothing has worked.
I cant see how I botched the firmware upload I let it do its thing then it said reset, so I unplugged it from the computer and reset it. That was that. After it finished rebooting I put it back on the USB and it wasnt recognized and thats where Im at now. |

BTW If it is a botched firmware load what can I do with the device not being recognized by the PC? Also could this be the reason it is not being recognized?

This isn't telling you how to fix it but I'm almost certain that the player resets itself after being updated so the fact that you reset it might have caused a problem.

Didnt know it reset itself. It just sat there and did nothing. So I thought I had to reset it manually. I guess I messed it up and thats what is causing the problem. So now the question is how would I go about fixing that?

Have you tried plugging into a different computer?

Okay, before you give up on it entirely, I need for you to try one more thing. Be aware that you will lose everything on your player, but at this point, you may have written it all off as lost anyways; so, here goes:
Boot into Recovery Mode. Run each option, in order (Disk Cleanup, Reformat, Reload Firmware, and Reboot). Ignore the notice that comes up when you select Reload Firmware. When you reboot, the player will immediately go back to Recovery Mode. Plug your player into your computer (use a different USB cable, just in case your existing cable may be part of the problem), and see what happens.

Absolutely nothing happened when I did that. Its too frustrating to keep going on. I really feel like throwing this thing against the wall. Now when I reboot it says firmware problem and goes to Recovery mode. But since no recognition no chance to upload the firmware.

try getting a different sync adapter, it could have gotten messed up and be the cause of the problem
