Hi,
Just got the sport for x-mas. seems pretty good but haven't put it the test yet. I am looking to increase the capacity (2Gig) but I don't know and can't find anywhere what the maximium size chip that you can use. I want to pick up the 4Gig for $40. But would hate to get it and the max capacity for the chip is 2 Gig. So if anyone knows what the max capacity of the microsd chip is for the sport I would appreciate it. Thanks Tapper. |

According to the specs, the maximum capacity of microSD cards is 2 GB. Higher capacity cards should be microSDHC, which I'm not sure the Sport supports.
More info here and here.

I have heard people say that the new Sport can take microSDHC card. I do not know, tho, too.

Thanks for the reply.
As per Tech Support which I called this afternoon. They said any size Microsd ship would work. Almoxil, your correct that anything above 2Gig is a SDHC chip. And the Sports documentation does state that is will support the MicroSDHC. |

Hi Tapper,
I checked my manuals for the sport there is no mention at all about MicroSDHC chips, only that it will accept MicroSD chips. Doesn't mean a MicroSDHC chip won't work. I see Sandisk now has an 8 gig MicroSDHC, wouldn't that be cool if that worked! |

Jeff,
If you look in the Specifictions section it actually does. And I did notice that other places in the manual it only states microsd. Ports and connections: Mini USB 2.0 Headphone jack Micro SDHC slot Happy New Year All. |

Tapper,
You are right. I missed that. If you get a 4gig chip, please let us know how it works. Happy New Year to you! Jeff |

Well I used an 8 GB Micro Sd on it and it worked fine out of the box.

I have an insignia sport and the 8gb MicroSDHC works perfectly. It says everywhere MicroSD they just left off the HC
. But ya.. Insignia sport + MicroSDHC = Guaranteed work.

It should theoretically support up to a 32GB card. But the indexing times would be painful...

Exactly, it supports the SDHC format so regardless of size it SHOULD work.

I called Insignia on the land-line and they popped me over to Geek-Squad who said that the Sport will accept microSDHC chips but they recomment that you stay within the size of your "Internal Storage" so I bought a 4 GB for my 4 GB Sport and (while there's not too much on it) it works fine!
