Omair Ahmed, you cant upgrade to a v2 because of different hardware in them.

Omair Ahmed, the v1s are PP based and the v2s are AMS based. You need to buy a v2 to use the v2 firmware.

again, the v1 and v2 have different hardware so the firmware is not cross-compatible

if it says only .mi4 files you are in MTP mode.
You Can do three things(pick one)
1) Use the Sansa Firmware Updater
2) Use MSC mode Go to Settings>USB mode and select MSC or hold down the |<< button as you plug the Sansa in. the sansa should get assigned a drive letter like any old USB flash drive but any music put on in MTP mode will not be visible and vice versa
3) rename it to .mi4, put it on the player, and then name it back to .bin

Yes, the Sansa Firmware Updater works on the v1's and v2's.

Any chance of replacing these links with a link to the the Firmware section of Sandisk site - http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/boar...hread.id=13548
I used the link in this thread for European which removed my FM Radio. The sandisk forum has two updates one with suffix e (non FM Radio) and suffix f for (FM radio). The instructions for updating on a Mac work well.

Please help me!!! I bought an 8gb micro SD card but I didn't know my player couldn't handle an 8gb card. My player has a version 1 firmware. If I have a version 1 firmware, can I download a version 2 to replace my other version?

You cannot.

However, you can use rockbox, which will allow you to use your card.

Thanks for the fast response, but would you be able to walk me through it? I went to the Rockbox website and I didn't see any way to do so. Do I just download Rockbox to my player?

I'm not going to walk you through it. Instead, I recommend that you click the manual link on the rockbox website and follow the instructions there.

I recently got an E280v2 Sansa - I Rockboxed it using the Original Firmware at the top of this thread.

Only prob is that if I connect it to power like to charge it, it goes into the original yucky Sansa software. I want to be able to listen to it (in Rockbox) while its charging.

Can anyone help?
