Best Way to Convert FLV (Youtube) ???

nothing seemed to work right for me. like in my other post, i did get one to convert if i use the iriver U10 preset (rather low quality) anyway, i thought this Pilot would play WMV but every conversion i did with any converter failed.... ArcSoft, iriverter, WinFF, Riva.... I like WMV over AVI because it seems WMV takes less space and honestly, I like the Youtube quality, so, i dont need amazing. This in mind,... does anyone know a straight forward way to convert Youtube vids to this thing? i can download them fine. im using WinXP thanks folks. jim

ok, once again in iriverter, IF i convert in the preset iriver U10 it will work... and ONLY AVI i can not get ANY WMV to work. i want WMV helppppppp

Grab YouTube Downloader and use it to download and then convert the files into wmv format. you then can either use those files directly maybe. Or you can convert what it gives you in wmv format to something the player can read.

Great program. I use it mostly to strip audio from flv files but it does about anything you need it to. It's not free but was worth it as far as I'm concerned. Very stable, fast and reliable. http://www.applian.com/replay-converter/index.php

hey all well YouTube downloader does work, BUT intensely slow, and terribly choppy video, and large files... ..and i can't afford to pay for a converter.... im working on it. thanks jim

You can use WinMenc to convert to AVI or WMV

I use realplayer 11 (http://www.real.com/) to download videos (works for almost any online video, plus you can download multiple videos at once!)
Then i use prism (http://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html) to convert the flv's. They have changed prism since i downloaded it. I'm not sure if the free version works for flv's but the free trial of the paid version does work and it can be re-downloaded over and over without ever needing to pay. Unfortunately, realplayer downloads non-flash videos to a special format (.ivr) and i have yet to find a converter for that.

Process is a bit tedious, but it works.
