Default Exclude tracks from random playlists

Hi,

I have some audiobooks (both from audible and ripped from CD) on my 16GB Zen. Some of the tracks I have are around 3 minute long chapters of audiobooks. Is there any way of preventing these audiobook tracks from being played in a random playlist? ie. Is there anything along the lines of iTunes's "Skip when shuffling" setting.

Thanks,

Jonny

Unfortunately no. This is a common problem with a lot of id3 browsing based players. Some even come with audio book categories, like the sansa clip, but that requires audible files.

You could try finding a tag you dont use (f.ex year or genre if you dont use them) and tag everythign BUT the audiobooks with the same tag, say everything is from 1901 except audiobooks. That way you could choose 1901 and play all from there, if the zen has that feature

Thanks. Thats similar to an idea I had which was to rate every file, and just play the highest rated. Another idea was to put the audiobooks on the SD card (turning the reported SD browsing problems into a feature!).

Thanks,

Jonny

But what about lack of bookmarks for SD?

Ah - I'd not thought of that - I haven't had a chance to try SD yet.

Hmmm, just a thought 'cause I do not use such features ... have you tried to make a playlist of your music without audiobooks and then play it randomly?

Thanks Valdr - I'd not realised how easy it is to create a playlist from the PC - that looks like the answer!

Thanks again!
