I've been given a nw-a1000
with no software only the usb cable. ![]() I've downloaded sonicstage ver 4.3, but when I connect the unit to the pc the red light illuminates for about 5 secs, the unit says connecting, then the red light goes off, unit still says connecting but nothing shown in my computer or in the sonicstage interface, on transfer panel it states "device/storage media not connected" ![]() ![]() ![]() Can you experts tell me if its the unit, cable or software thats at fault. ![]() Personally I think it's the cable, as nothing showing connected in 'my computer' What do you think....???? ![]()

Ok, have you tried wiping the playing via the menu on it then resetting it via the small pinhole on the bottom? then reconnecting it to the pc to see if it appears in SS.
Does the device show up in windows explorer? if it does, then the cable is fine and there might be a problem with either the unit (unlikely) or your windows, some setup files or drivers might be missing.

I had the same problem with my walkman also, but have managed to get it working again. First, download the firmware update from
http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-do...d_id=2022&PO=3 Then, on the walkman itself, go into settings and select "initialise disk". This should take a minute or so. Then, reconnect the player to the computer. The USB light doesnt show up on the cable, but the player remains connected. Then run the firmware and transfer the songs from sonicstage to the walkman. The reason why my walkman played up in the first place was because i tried to copy .wma (windows media player files) before running the firmware which allows these files to be played. Hope this helps |
