Is it possible to change bluetooth through firmware.

If the Samsung P2 is any indication, then yes. They made improvements and added many features via a firmware upgrade for those players.
If they are not using all the features of the chip then they could add bluetooth features like Samsung did. It's possible that some features may be impossible to add or change because of the chip.
