Got my Fuze...FINALLY!

Well guys....

After 5 weeks of waiting I finally got my 8 gig Silver "bundle of joy" yesterday, and after playing with it for just a little while these are my first impressions....

1. Size is a little smaller than anticipated, but feels solid in your hand. Like the colour and the fact that it doesn't show fingerprints etc...

2. Like the scroll wheel...very smooth and responsive making navigating a breeze.

3. *Most Important* - the sound quality on the Fuze for me is very good. With my Etymotic earbuds the sound was clear with no distortion whatsoever. Very happy because I became a little concerned after reading some of the initial reviews when the Fuze was first released.

4. Haven't played with the video much but at first glance the video could be better and I'm sure it will (in time) with subsequent firmware updates and third party apps that can/will do a better job of encoding video for the Fuze. I will use the video from time to time but I bought the Fuze mainly for playing music so I'm not too concerned about the video.

My only knock right now?....(minor). I wish they put the headphone jack on the top of the player instead of on the bottom. Just me....

All in all guys I'm very happy so far with my Fuze. The more I learn it the more I think I'll fall in love with it as I did with my e260. Would not recommend preordering...I think you can get one faster if you just wait until it hits the stores. Would DEFINITELY give the Fuze a 2 thumbs up if your thinking of buying a player!!

Questions -

1. Has anyone outside the US been able to snag the free microSD card from Sandisk..?. Guess the offer is only available in the US..??.

2. It looks like the USB connector on the Fuze is the same as the one on the e200's..??. Can they be interchanged..?. I just bought a docking station for my e260 from Griffin (14.99 - Reg. 39.99!). It would be nice to be able to use that docking station on both my e260 and my Fuze...?.

The connector on e200, c200 and Fuze is the same... I can't speak for other units though.

1) I am not sure.
2) Most likely, the Griffin PowerDock will work with the Fuze like it works with my View.

Well it was being shipped to Canada, so I figure 3 weeks of it (don't like it but normal) was tied up in clearing customs. Shipping time will be much shorter if you live in the US.

Ordered directly from Sans mine took one week to travel less than 50 miles. It averaged 1/3 mph. I couldn't walk that slow if I wanted to.

Just curious since you have a Griffin Powerdock what have your plugged your line-out into...??

sansaguy, do you also agree that the scrolling speed needs to be increased,
and that backwards scrolling should be added? Weird, because the e200's support these, while the Fuze doesn't.

I am really looking forward to a firmware upgrade that can fix these.

There was a fw release for the Fuze - Check the Fuze threads on this forum for the link. I believe a scrolling issue was "changed" with the FW. V01.01.11 is the latest, I believe.

Sorry, the scrolling issue wasn't changed in the firmware update.

the scrolling speeds I can live with. The backwards scrolling I do miss...

They will probably implement this in a future firmware upgrade. There was a poll on Sandisk's site by a developer and just about everyone voted for it:
