T10 Driver for Windows 2000 Pro?

I am using a Mac and using a Virtual PC emulation of Win 2000 Pro

I have installed SMS but the T10 isn't recognised due to the lack of a device driver.

I thought YP-Z5QB/XSA MTP driver for Win98,ME,2000 (ver.1.0) obtained from uk.samsungplay might have done the trick .. but no luck

Can anyone advise where I might be able to download a suitable driver?

Have you tried xnjb? it provides mtp support for macs.

Why don't you just put it to UMS?
If you use Subscription Music services, then I'd see why that's not an option.

Thanks to this Forum I have started using xnjb .. works ok .. but doesn't give direct folder access

I cannot change it to UMS format as I cannot mount the T10 to get to the root folder structure to put the firmware into

Surely there must be some form of generic MTP driver for earlier Windows OSs

For downlevel operating systems, specifically, Windows 2000, Windows 98 and Windows Me, Microsoft has released the MTP Porting Kit.[1] It includes the full MTP specification, documentation and tools. While the MTP porting kit itself can only be installed on Windows XP or later operating systems, it includes a generic device driver for MTP devices (MTP9x-2k.exe). The driver's INF file (wpdmtp_sample.inf) has to be modified to describe the attributes for the specific device before connecting the player. Specifically, the following changes are required: 1. Adding device specific VID/PID entries to the "Manufacturer & Models" section. ; Vendor needs to supply the VID (xxxx) and PID (yyyy) %Test.DeviceDesc% = Test_MTP, USB\VID_xxxx&PID_yyyy
2. Optionally, editing the device specific text strings in the "Localizable macro substitutions" section (required only for description purposes). ;Test.DeviceDesc = "<Device name>" MfgName = "<Manufacturer name>" Provider = "<Provider name>"
The VID and PID values can be looked up in the registry at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\U SB
After making this modification, the driver can be installed on downlevel operating systems and works with Windows Media Player 9 Series or other players which offer MTP support.

Edit: Bah! Microsoft's validation process wont let me download via Win 2000 the file mtppk12.exe as it is intended for XP and beyond!

i searched google already, but didn't find the correct version yet....

edit: mmmmh... it's from samsungs pc-studio 3, don't know if it works...

Being a Mac guy I'm a bit noobish about Windows Directory and Registry locations

What application/editor do I need to get to the INF file in the driver .exe to edit it ?

Have been able to get Samsung Media Studio to access the T10 on Win2000 Pro but did not get it to mount the drive via My Computer ie no direct access to root folder

1. Had Windows Media Player 9 installed
2. Installed MTP9x-2k.exe - (thx Cyphox)
3. Set System Prefs to reveal hidden folders and files
4. Then as Wikipedia advised edited created the following file in Notepad and called it "wpdmtp_samsungt10.inf"

5. Placed the saved file into
C:\WINNT\inf

6. Right-click on the file in the directory and select Instal

7. Restart Windows 2000

8. Connect the T10

9. Should auto select the Driver

If not then point the Driver Instal Wizard to the "wpdmtp_samsungt10.inf" file.

10. Start up Samsung Media Studio

Not on the Samsung Installation CD for the YP-T10J sold in Australia
Just the Install of SMS, Manual, DirectX9 & WMP10

Hi,
I just built a computer and installed a OEM copy of XP SP2. Everything is working fine on it except for my T10. I have tried what was listed above, reinstalled wmp11 a couple of times, installed all the windows updates (including sp3) and everything else I've been able to find off of google. For some reason though, it still won't work. I have been using my T10 with my old computer (also sp2) with no problem. All usb devices are working correctly and otherwise, the OS is acting fine. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all for it. I'd like to have my T10 working on my new computer since it's about a million times faster than my old one. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Update: My girlfriend's samsung sync cell phone is recognized as a windows portable device but the T10 still is not. This is weird....

Are you using Windows Media Player 9?
In an other forum I had read, other people have this problem also.
Afther installation Windows Media Player 10 it was sovlved.

By mistake, I installed version 11, have still to try this.

yeah, i tried wmp 10. didn't work either. I just backed everything up and reinstalled windows since I didn't have much on the computer yet anyway. I figured it was better to spend two hours reinstalling windows and the few programs I had already installed than to spend a couple days throwing stuff at the computer screen when it said windows didn't recognize my t10. It works fine now though. Everything sorted out on reinstall with sp3 and wmp11. Don't know what it was, as long as it works now though....Thanks!

I need help in installing my Samsung YP-T10j with my Windows XP operating system. I am facing a problem with drivers given by manufacturer's CD. My Windows XP only accepts digitally signed drivers. This is a big problem. This means most of the drivers that are not digitally signed will not work with my Win XP. Please let me know if there is any solution for the driver signing problem. I have also tried to use the file MTP9x-2k.exe and created the wpdmtp_samsungt10.inf suggested in Wikidpedia but I was not successfull. MTP9x-2k.exe is only meant for Windows 9x, ME and 2000. It does not work with Windows XP. Please help me in installing my Samsung JP-T10y mp3 player in Win XP. Thanks!
