The process is fairly simple.

1. Remove the four screws holding the back cover on.

2. Remove the back cover.

3. Remove the battery.

4. Remove the four screws on the inside holding the front cover to the silver case. This is the silver band you can see on the side of an e200.

5. Pry the front cover from the silver case with finger nail. The big select button should fall out.

6. Carefully pry the circuit board from the silver case. Start at the USB connector being extremely careful not to break silver plastic around the connector. The silver case and the circuit board should hinge about the head phone jack. There is some goo under the black plastic in silver case holding the two together.

7. Release the black electrical tape on the daughter memory board from the main circuit board.

8. With a small flat head screwdriver, pry the daughter board from the main board. There is a two sided sticky foam tape holding the two boards together. It is located between the head phone jack and the hold switch. This is a good location to gently pry the two apart.

9. Preform steps 1-8 on the second unit.

10. Reassemble reversing steps 8-1 using the good circuit board/display with larger memory and back case from the larger unit. When mating the circuit board with the silver case, align the hold button with the micro switch on the main board.

11. (optional) Reassemble the remaining components for backup parts.

Just got a cheap e280 as a matter of fact... you can get it at B&H photo video $189!!!

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...goryNavigation

I would have just bought it from Them but they have a stupid 7 day return policy (mmm...No Thanks!) So I just printed that out and went to Circuit City and had them price match it. They give you 110% of the difference off so i got my e280 for 183.95 brand new with a 30 day return period score! Also got the gray silicon skin for 6 bucks instead of 14.

Now this is def worth a try for everyone but Im not sure theyll do it for you. I live in Brooklyn and B&H is in Manhattan, so i went the Union Sq CC. They may have only done it because it is a local competitor. If you live in another state call Circuit City before you waste the trip to the store. This worked out well for me because i prefer to go to a store for my expensive purchases rather than online. Something about the instant gratification. I hear teenagers like that...
Hope this helps, reply with your findings!

I brought my sansa from the usa and had it shipped to england for $200 aprox £100 and never got charged import (would be aprox £30).

To buy one in uk shops you are looking at £175+ I think in the UK we are being ripped off but thats proberbly due to Tax

Anyway looks like you got a better deal then we can get here in the UK.

I brought this from the seller tech-8888 on ebay and that seller only seems to have one Sansa e280 for sale at the moment at $175.

Shipping to the UK is $32 to be exact, but request postage before buying incase it has changed.

It only took 5 days to arive.

Thanks PJT

Tried it and I successfully exchanged 2GB of memory for 4GB of memory.

Didn't think it'd be that easy. And since I just lost my Sansa ( R.I.P ), I'll probably buy a cheap 2GB and see how it goes. Thanks a lot for keeping us informed.

There are four models of the e200: e250, e260, e270 and e280. The only difference between them is the amount of memory: 2GB, 4BG, 6GB and 8GB. Inside the e200 there is a main circuit board common to all models and a daughter circuit board that holds the memory and plugs into the main circuit board.

I cracked the LCD display on my 6GB e270, so I bought a used 2GB e250 on ebay and swap the memory boards. So instead of having a broken e270 and a working e250, I know have a broken e250 and a working e270.
