Need help getting a copy of the S61X FW

My player bricked and I need a copy of the firmware for the NWZ-S61X series. Any help providing a link to a download would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

This SuXX!! Now I guess i'll have to try & contact Sony. The only prob is the serial # on the back is off and I can't get to the numbers in the unit - oh. well.

EDIT: Contacted Sony & the unit is now running - though it really had nothing to DO w/Sony. They wanted me to reformat the unit using windows explorer BUT the S618 does not show up as a drive letter. Apparently, draining the battery & going imto the settings & reformatting the unit w/the on board formatter in the device allowed the player to work. I really hope it acts as a cure but I'm kinda' doubtful on this one.

Hi, I may be able to help as I have found a firmware version 1.01 for the NWZ-S61X series. It is from Sony Japan, which is slow so it is now on my rapidshare.com account.

Welcome to ABi and thanks. I recently got rid of the player (my son's friend said he'd tinker with it) so I really can't try this and tell you the results. Once again though, THANKS!!!

I can't get it to work. It keeps telling to connect a device but I have it connected. It is showing up in explorer and j. river but for some reason the FW updater don't see it.

what i want to know is:

what's new in this firmware ?

since it comes from a Japanese web site, is it for canadian players ?

is there a risk that the player changes it's language for Japanese only ?

If it's the Japanese firmware (I didn't check myself as my player is long gone at this stage) it will NOT work w/the non-ATRAC and non/Japanese players. That's probably the reason it's not recognizing the player. They are not cross-compatible. And, there is NO workaround. Time to RMA that sucka'!!!

Mine works just fine, it's just i dont want to brick-it if i install the new firmware.

It looks like nobody installed it.
