Default Question for wired remote users

The touchpad on my ZVM is broken and it only scrolls upwards. This prevents me from doing everything but listening to random albums and selecting tracks. I found this remote:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PSPCUU

I was wondering though since it only has play/pause, back/forward, and volume/up down will I be able to navigate through menus, possibly with the volume/up down buttons?

Thanks

Are you sure that the touchpad is broke? Maybe the connection is loose or the touchpad needs cleaned. If you have already tried those, you may want to also consider buying a new touchpad (found one on EBay) or an as-is ZVM and do a touchpad swap.

This thread may help.

This thread may help.
It's not 100% broken. IT only scrolls up. essentially rendering it useless. I don't know how i'd test to see if the connection is loose. I've considered buying one of those replacements but the disassembly looks like a mess.

You would open it up and make sure the connector isn't loose or not seated properly.

These should help:
Here is the ABI disassembly guide.
Here is a video of a disassembly.
Here is another disassembly video.

Since you have one with your ZVM izbr1234, maybe you could answer his question:

No you can't use it to navigate through menus. All the volume buttons do while in menus is shortcut to the volume and turn the music up or down.

Then why would you recommend the wired remote to him if it won't do what he needs?
