Hello no face. Welcome to ABI. You may want to start by reading the main Connection Problem thread here. Chances are, your issue can be resolved by following possible solution within that thread.
Now, I have to ask you a few question to get a better idea what may be going on first before I may be able to help: 1. What firmware version is installed on your Zen V Plus? 2. What Operating System are you using on the computer you are connecting the ZVP too? 3. What version of Windows Media Player (WMP) is installed?

Think of firmware as the Zen's operating system (similar to Windows on a computer).
First verify that you have a good connection with the Zen V. Check Device Manager to make sure you see the Zen V and the drive has no errors. Also, since you are using WMP11 with the Zen V, make sure you have the Creative Media Explorer patch installed (ZNV_PCPatch_LB.exe). Quote:

You're going to have to explain a little more... I'm not real sure what you just said. Are you saying that you are trying to upgrade the firmware and it is saying it the Zen is not connected?

Do you see it under My Computer as a Portable Device? Was it listed under Portable Devices in Device Manager?
Try uninstalling and letting Windows reinstall the driver: 1. With the Zen connected, in Device Manager, expand the Potable Device category. 2. Right click on the Zen listing and slect the Uninstall from the menu. 3. Once it is uninstalled, disconnect the Zen from the USB port. 4. Wait a minute, then plug it back in and take note in Device Manager that it refreshes and reloads the driver properly. 5. Once it reloads the driver properly, open My Computer and see if it shows correctly. So, are you trying to upgrade the firmware or just sync? I'm still not clear....

Have you tried drag-and-dropping a file or two to see how the Zen V reacts then?

Removable disk? Sounds like you have it in removable disk mode. The removable disk mode is a set-aside data partition to store data (like on a USB flash drive) for storage and transfer from PC to PC. If the files/data are stored on it, they will not show up on the ZVP even though they are taking up storage space. If it is, then no wonder the software isn't detecting the ZVP as being connected. Change it out of removable disk mode to where the ZVP will show as a Portable Device instead of Removable Disk and it should get detected again. (In the Extras) menu on the ZVP.
