...because the ZVP is showing up as a Removable Device. That is what the removable device feature is supposed to do.

Once you take it out of removable device mode, it will automatically turn back to its normal mode as a Portable MTP Device.

1. Select Extras -> Removable Disk.
2. Press and hold the Back/Options button.
3. Select the option to Disable the Removable Disk.

Hope that help.

Try connecting to see if it is recognized correctly, of course.

I thought you set it to disabled? Do not pick any size, disable it. Then connect it to the computer to see if it gets recognized.

Then it shouldn't be asking you to set the size of the removable disk partition.

If it isn't showing under My Computer, go back to Device Manager to verify the driver status.

You should know this already since you told me you have reinstalled the driver from the earlier posts (post 10). Did you not do this?

There is no Device manager folder. From the link I just posted above:

Quote:
Windows 2000 and Windows XP:
  1. Right-click My Computer then select Properties
  2. Select the Hardware tab
  3. Click the Device Manager button
  • Alternative 1: Start -> Run -> devmgmt.msc -> OK
  • Alternative 2: Type "devmgmt.msc" into the Command Prompt
  • Alternative 3: Device Manager is part of Computer Management, which also includes Event Viewer, Services Manager, Disk Management and many other things. Right-Click My Computer then select Manage to start Computer Management, or invoke compmgmt.msc, or launch it via the shortcut in Control Panel, Administrative Tools.
  • Alternative 4: Press and hold down the Windows key and press the Pause/Break key.
Pick one.

How is it showing in Device Manager? What category is it under? Does it report an error?

If the driver is showing an error, there will be a yellow circle with exclamation mark over it. If you double click the driver entry, the properties for it should show and any error messages would be listed under the Device Status section.

What category is it under? Portable Devices?

Well, it will not connect properly as a Portable Device until Removable Disk is disabled. If it really appears to be stuck as a removable disk when you have the setting set to Disabled, perhaps a hard reset will help. Use a paperclip and insert it into the small reset button below the power switch. This should power the Zen off and you can then power it back on.

If it doesn't help, try booting into Recovery Mode and doing a Cleanup to ensure teh Zen's database is running correctly without error.

To reset the Zen V and get into Recovery Mode:

1. Use a paper clip and insert it into the Reset hole located below the power switch.
2. Press and hold the Play button while powering on your player.
3. When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.

Once you get it into Recovery Mode, select Cleanup from the menu.
