Can't turn on

I just bought a Creative Zen X-fi 8 Gb. I got home and i plugged it into pc after installing the software. I copied there a few mp3 albums a charged it a little, then i noticed that its written in manual that is has to be charged for 4 hours before using. I haven't got that much time so i finished copying files, unpluged it and went to school. It was charged about 23%. I came home and i wanted to finish charging, but when i connect it to pc, i won't start charging, and Pc displays it in hardware as a ROM RECOVERY and i can't charge it or turn it on. Pls don't tell me its broken! I haven't even used it yet...

Do you have any non-computer USB ports?

Sometimes my Zens will not begin charging until the computer recognizes it, and the computer won't recognize it until it's charged. Catch 22. A way to get around this is to plug it into something that will charge it without recognizing it. TiVos, Xbox 360s, PS3s, Wiis, and even some DVD players and TVs have USB ports. Try plugging the player into something like these for an hour or so.

Tried it on mine PS3 no change, didn't started to charge (diod on right side was still dark)..

Did you leave it in there for a while, or just plug it in, see the light wasn't on, then unplug it?

I don't know if the PS3 will work for this, if you have other devices they're worth a try too. All I can tell you is that something very similar was happening with my ZVM, I plugged it into my TiVo (series 2) and after a while it worked.

So it is possible your zen got corrupted? Have tried formatting it?

i put it there for 5 mins or so. still no change.
i don't know if its corrupted, i can't format, cuz pc its detecting it in hardware as a rom recovery, no my zen. so i think is dead.

Hmmm... is there any reason you will not simply leave it plugged in for longer? I suggested you leave it plugged in for an hour because it might take around an hour.

I mean, if you're on this forum looking for advice, why not heed the advice?

i dunno it was doing nothing, no display change still dark and diod was dark too.

nothing of this was helping, so today i sent it back to e-shop where i bought it from, they should look at it, and repair it, or give me working one

After 3 week of waiting they send me an e-mail, that they are sending me a new player.
