I might try it, but I will need to fine that sandpaper. I checked the places in my town, and they do not have any. I would have to go out of town to find it then.

any hardware store like home depot or lowes would have it. or mabey a true value. it shouldnt be that hard to find. it would be right in the sandpaper isle along with all the other sandpaper for wood, plastic, etc.

Yes, but since I live in a small town where most of the stores have limited supply on things or they do not get them.

you just had to use one grit? no need to use different grits? what buffing compound did you use? i've only used buffing wheels for jewelry making and had to use red rouge and this other buffing compound (it was green, can't remember the name). what did you use to buff?

Great looking back, Krazykuul!!!

Have you tried Rockbox with the Reverse Bootloader ?

It will load the Sansa OFW by default, so it will work with your dock, but you can still boot to RockBox if you want to play with the games and Apps, or to fiddle with the custom EQ and DSP settings.

ok first of all to "summerdiaries," yes, i only used one grit of wet sandpaper which was 600 grit. the buffing compound was a white wax with grit in it. not a liquid

and dr_howardfine, i'd rather just have the h3mod theme since i like the original sansa's ui better

Well, I decided to give it a try with an old back I had laying around. I could only find 400 grit sandpaper and some "00" steel wool. I put some car polish (turtle wax color match) on the steel wool before polishing. It only took me about 10 minutes to get these results. I'm sure with more polishing I can get it even better.

Thanks krazykuul for the mod.

That sansa has a broken screen and had been sitting in a drawer for awhile. Since your's has never had one I am willing to remove mine and mail it to you so you feel complete.

That looks awesome, krazykuul! I also have a question for you. An H3Theme has nothing to do with rockbox right?

Short answer, no. Long answer (although simplistic), H3Themes replace the sansa's original screen while rockbox allows the sansa to be booted into rockbox or the original screen.

yeah carpenter is right. a program takes pictures from original sansa firmware, and just changes them when you add in a h3mod photo pack.

So this mod will work with sansa that don't have the "liquid metal back" right?

I'm pretty sure all the backs are made out of the same material, and that they just put a different coating on each one. The back I have is (was) the darker colored one with the greyish lettering. The back originally is like coated steel or something, and the backs don't look like you can polish them, but once you get that non reflective coating off that they spray on there, your back should polish nicely.
