Not looking at the NC function.....
Has anyone had a chance to compare these two? I wanted S series, but won`t ship on time, so I`ll be taking the E430.... But I am curious will it be a big difference without the CLEAR AUDIO technology? Maybe the A820 owners will know, because I`ve seen that it has the Clear Audio tech. also.... Suggestions? I`m gonna go for the E430 probably because of the time limit... Traveling soon... won`t be here long... Is this clear audio a big thing?? I guess not, but anyway... Oh yeah.... the price difference is about 40 USD, not much, but not to be forgotten, but it`s a decent pair of headphones, guess even better than those with S730 |

So I got this as a kind of a official response to the main difference between the two...
*Noise-canceling (which includes decent headphones, as opposed to the cheap stock 'buds that come with most MP3players) *Slightly more high-end build *DSNe sound enhancement options (such as concert, TruBass, etc. Both players have custom EQs, though) *Customizable interface (themes and wallpaper) *SensMe Channels (smart DJ/playlists) *True integrated podcast support |

well the silencing headphones tend to be junk.
esp since they are only usable with that walkman, and the control circuitry is in the walkman so replacements will be that model headphone only. no one else is going to bother making such a thing. it is dead end single use junk. and canal phones do a better job of blocking noise anyways. if the other one comes with ex headphones like the 72x/82x series then its a better deal. no need to pay for noise canceling gimmick. |

Yeah....
I also don`t like the noise canceling headphones which are only for sony, and can be replaced by sony only... But the E430 comes with "standard" (those basic plastic..) headphones... But it`s not that that bothers me, it`s the other differences... Higher sound quality... But god knows how much better?? Is it worth the extra cash? And the fact that the E is plastic and S is probably metal. I`m saying probably because it looks and feels metal, Cnet says metal, but I`m not sure... I would go for the S but without NC, but it`s not on sale, and I`m in a hurry. |

considering the better headphones with the 728 and the price difference being insignificant i'd just get that.
bigger screen as well. and metal yea cheap plastic feels wrong. i had a 61x before my 72x. the screen size difference seems small, but is significant in use. |
