Recordings = Recordings album? Issue

I have an issue..
Do the recordings you make with a Microphone just end up in the Recordings folded because their album is put as recordings?

As soon as I tried it out I had a Recordings album in my music library.. this seems stupid, I don't want to shuffle and end up hearing my recordings.

Also.. I have an album called Recordings (By Porcupine Tree) which ends up showing up on the main menu under recordings..

Is this all correct, seems a bit stupid?

You can also try creating a Playlist with all of your music files except for your recordings.

You can also try renaming their album title in their ID3 tag to get them to show separately from any other album tagged correctly as Recordings.
