There are silver 4GB v1 Clips. I think the black 4GB Clips are v2s, tho. I could be wrong tho.

I know.. it was pretty early this morning, and I really didn't feel like wiping the screen.

I was just excited when I could listen to music on it this morning without the PANIC message. Any directory over 2GB seems to crash the player. But that's all good, there is so much progress being made with this and I'm very thankful for all you Rockbox hackers out there!

P.S: I have a very dusty, hairy house.

Edit: Interesting, I've not had the crash that you are referring to, on some builds it’s a bit more buggy than others, but they’ve all worked and I’ve been able to change/update them no problem. Do you think it’s because of the build or the fact that it’s a 4gb?

WalkGood, seems that's not an issue with the 1GB version. I got some panics with the 2GB Clip, and it seems the 4GB version is obviously pickier in that aspect.

Yeah, I would only get the panic when I would try and access a folder larger than 2GB, or when I would try to refresh the database. So I just stuck the CDs that need gapless on there, in separate directories, and I'm able to get to my music there

I also love the fact that the read/write driver works fine this early in development, we're not so lucky with D2! Proper EQ really makes the Clip SHINE.

I love how that reflective coating looks in these pics! I just wonder how well you can actually see the display with the OF in bright surroundings....that has been a common complaint. Since they still only have silver and black in 4GB, I want to make my decision before tax time

Oh man, those games have awesome graphics! Is there a page or thread I can visit to get updates of this project and when in might be done? Btw, everyday that passes I grow more jealous of the people who have the silver Clip.

Oh life is so unfair. Others get to try a version, albeit shaky, of Rockbox. It's looks good and would be great to tinker with. Very D2 ish with all of the bitrates and nerdy stuff like that. Of course gapless would be awesome. I'm thinking of putting it on my D2 just to check that out. Well I'm off...!

Everyone can compile their own Clip bootloader and firmware from SVN. Of course without any warranties and with the notice that you may brick your Clip in doing so.
