For the moment I'm not convinced.
But I must bear in mind that it's a beta firmware.
Anyway, some things don't depend of the firmware: for example the lack of a "play/pause" button and a real "hold" button
The screen is a bit better than on the P2.
Haptic function becomes quicky annoying.

But there is real good thing:
There is absolutely NO BACKGROUND NOISE!!!! it should be normal but once you tested the P2, you're so happy when a mp3 player has a quality output! lol

And the alu finition is better than on the P2 of course.

I think with a final firmware it could be good but nothing really new!

More impressions later (after christmas^^)

No, it isn't gapless.
There is a little gap like on the P2.

I don't really get what why people are so obsessed with gapless! Honestly you can't wait a second, or two for the next song?

I'm now downloading the 1.11 firmware!

edit: s**t. This firmware is very bad. The screen is not gauged anymore. When I push on "back" it selects another function etc...
Now I have to wait a new firmware to use the P3 again...

Default are the added formats worth it
is it worth it just to buy a p3 for the added format compatibility, or are they planning on adding them in a final update for the p2. and i agree, i don't see what the big deal is for gap less playback either.

Do you have links to these firmware files? And are they still ROM/RSC? Or that new one file type they've got for the PB2?

Help Does it support FLAC ? (it's not in the spec on Korean website)
I clicked on link to Spec pages (Korean site) and FLAC is not mentioned there
(all the formats are in English so no need to understand Korean which I don't)

Is it just accidently omitted or they will add it with future firmware or all the info previous about FLAC support was untrue ?

Anyway, I'm so sad with that 1.11 firmware
And it has been released on the 19th, so 5 days ago and they still haven't noticed this big bug?!

Lebellium, thanks for FLAC clarification.

Since it's now disabled by with the firmware upgrade (as I understand), I guess we all need to wait until 2009 with further info and SQ review, but If you have any first SQ impressions, please, drop few lines

i like gapless but it's not a huge deal breaker for me but for certain albums where it's really just one continuous song it gets annoying having the momentum of the previous song be broken as you wait for the next one to start.

I'll bet they get the 1.11 firmware bugs fixed before CES. If you contact them, Lebellium, would you please ask them for one more P2 update? Have them give the P2 FLASH support so it can play all the apps/games that will be comming out for the S9, SPINN, and P3.

It plays flac, lebellium clarified that already.

No more bluewaves for P2, sorry. I already asked. But Samsung France has no power over Samsung Korea lol

I try to get a working firmware for P3 but it's difficult since when Samsung Korea sends mp3 player samples, they don't send firmwares files.
So I don't have the 0.57 beta firmware
