These aren't going to win any audiophile awards, but I picked up a pair and think they sound pretty darn good for what they are. I found them at Bed Bath and Beyond for $10 - 20%-off-coupon = $8.

Anyone got an actual product name on this?

Nevermind - found one.

"Sound Pod"

_________

(on another note, I'm sick of all audio-related devices ending in 'pod')

I just saw them at Burlington Coat Factory for $7, JC Penny for $8, and Macy's for $12. Fun day at the mall.

On a related note, I picked a portable speaker today from Burlington that sucked royally.

They were only $7 but required a AAA battery so I couldn't try them at the store even though I had my zvm on me. Get home, pop in a AAA bat, hear ONE note and they stopped working. Great! Now I have to drive 25 miles back to the mall to get my $7 back.

I got it (SoundPod) from the seller today, and here's the rundown:

Sound quality: won't be winning any awards at all, lol, but for $11 it's not a bad choice

Volume: with Zen cranked to 25 and the speakers on full, I could hear my rock song upstairs while the player was downstairs... so it's pretty loud.

Fit: perfect. However I have a BSE and therefore not worried about scratching, but if you don't have a skin on it, there could be serious scratching problems as the player only has about 1mm of clearance with no padding at all.

No. That speaker is built to accomodate players up to 13/16" thick. The ZVM60 is almost 1/16" thicker than that.

Actually, the tray that the player sets in slides out. You can adjust the depth so that the 60gb ZVM would fit. I have those speakers and my 30gb barely fits so I have to slide the tray out slightly to get it to fit in the stand.

I'm fairly sure on Dealextreme.com you can get it even cheaper (usually with free shipping). Sorry can't verify it at the moment - the site is down, unfortunately.

UXCell.com has it too, for the same price as Daydeal.com.

You can get those speakers for $6.79 at www.accstation.com. Shipping is $5.99, bringing the total to $12.78 delivered. You can also try typing THANKYOU in the coupon box. It's only supposed to give you $5.00 off if you have more than $20 in orders, but give it a shot. Might work!

ps: I have the speakers in black - great sound for so small a set up!

Cambridge Soundworks Playdock Zen Docking Speaker for Zen Vision:M

it's the official one from Creative Labs, so i think it is the best one

although hefty price tag, about $184 (if you are living in the USA)

X-Fi looks awsome but it costs heaps of $$$

How does the SoundPod connect to the zen? does it use the data port or the headphne jack?
