No Sound Effects

I got my P3 today and 1st thing I did was updated the firmware. Then put some music on it using media monkey. I have 2 problems: Album Art not syncing but most importantly 'sound effects' is greyed out so I cannot make any changes. Is this a firmware problem or have I got myself a duff unit?

Hi, 1.18 firmware. I have also noticed it is the m4a album art which isn't syncing. However the album art on mp3's looks b awful very pixelated even though some are 500 x 500, the only one looks good is 600 x 599. Also, only in music, the response when selecting options, eg album, artist etc is slow. Other menu options happy with the response. Must say not very impressed with my new toy at the moment. I guess that's what you get for getting it on release instead of waiting.

Just a question; are you listening to music via Bluetooth? If so, they may have purposely disabled the sound effects when streaming audio over Bluetooth.

Thanks for the response, no I am not using bluetooth - haven't got that far, to test that out as yet.

Sounds like a firmware issue. For giggles, did you try the reset button to see if the sound effects options became available? Sounds like a call to Samsung support is in your near future.

Yeah I've emailed them already but will follow it up with a call on Monday. I've identified the scrolling lag in music - its the m4a/aac files. Took all them off just left the mp3 files on - no probs whatsoever. I must have misunderstood, I was pretty sure the specs said it supported those files out of the box. Another question I will be asking Samsung. Will update their response.

Look at it this way, atleast you have a P3...there's been little sign of the P3 on this side of the pond.

The sound effects are also not supported if you have the P3's little speaker on. Found in the user manual. See this thread. The Manual is HERE. You'll have to be using wired headphones with the speaker turned off to see any sound effect options.

i just checked the my p3. i have done the update to 1.18 KR 4 days before.
so when you use the speaker, the DNSe is not displayed. but if you use the headpones, sound effects and DNSe is both ok. i have check the m4a/flac/mp3 in my p3 just now.
for bluetooth headphones, i take a Btmobile SCS740 pair with the p3, works exerlent. i will check it later and to sure is't availble for bluetooth or not and reply.

bluetooth checked, same as the speaker, no sound effects or DNSe with bluetooth.

for the other question, Album Art not syncing, you mean the album cover?
if you mean the cover, which is also work. but i didn't check it deeply.
if you update the album with the emidio. than transfer to p3, which works out of question.
if you want to direct copy the cover.jpg file to p3. there are some rule of the this cover.jpg format you need to obey, for me some is work, some is not, cause i don't care about this much, i didn't analyse it more.

Yes it is a 'brick and mortar' store they only had 2 P3's in stock a 8gb and a 16gb. I bought the 16gb.

Also thank you so much sensen and olley you are both stars the sound effect problem is now sorted, I love my little toy again!! I just need to work on the cover art but it is not a major issue its just a little feature I quite like.
